Summary
Target Industries: Chemical, Fluid Handling, Semiconductor
Problem
To develop a polymer measuring chamber with no metal elements and that could withstand pressures of up to 2 Bar without any leakage.
Solution
Custom machined HDPE with a special hot welding process to ensure that key elements would not suffer any leakage.
Result
High clarity, full polymer measuring chamber developed fully in-house.
Introduction
We developed a custom measuring chamber assembly combining precision-machined HDPE components with a high-clarity acrylic viewing section for a demanding fluid control application. The project required advanced machining, specialized welding techniques, and strict quality control to ensure leak-free performance and excellent optical clarity.
Assembly Design & Engineering

Leak-Proof Fluid Control Design
The measuring chamber assembly was developed for a precision fluid control application where sealing integrity was critical. The design incorporated multiple polymer interfaces, threaded connections, and welded HDPE sections that all had to work together without leakage. Tight machining tolerances and dimensional consistency were essential throughout the manufacturing process.
Machining Challenges with HDPE
The HDPE adaptors and chamber interfaces required extensive precision machining to maintain concentricity, sealing geometry, and assembly alignment. HDPE can deform under cutting pressure and thermal loading, making tight-tolerance machining significantly more challenging than conventional metal machining.

Development of a Specialized In-House Welding Process
To achieve reliable sealing performance, Poly Fluoro developed a specialized in-house welding methodology for critical HDPE joints. The process focused on controlled heat input, weld consistency, and minimizing distortion during assembly. This allowed the chamber to maintain dimensional stability while ensuring repeatable leak-proof weld quality.

Acrylic Sourcing & Optical Quality
The acrylic chamber section had to maintain excellent transparency and be completely free from scratches or optical distortion. Finding a supplier capable of consistently providing high-quality acrylic tubing proved challenging, as many commercially available tubes showed handling marks or surface imperfections unsuitable for the application.

Final Manufactured Assembly
The completed assembly successfully met the requirements for sealing integrity, dimensional consistency, visual quality, and robust polymer construction.
