Overview
Slide plates are made from high-performance polymers such as PTFE or UHMWPE and are engineered for structural systems requiring low-friction, wear-resistant movement. These components are typically bonded or bolted to backing materials like stainless steel or elastomer pads to form composite sliding systems.
Designed for use in railway vibration pads and in air spring systems, these ‘Guide Plates’ are machined with grooves and dimples to allow for minimal friction, while also allowing smooth lateral movement over the surface.
Their ability to operate in extreme environments—ranging from high heat to constant moisture—ensures long-term durability and reduced maintenance. The low coefficient of friction prevents wear and extends life in both civil and industrial infrastructure.
Additionally, polymer bearings eliminate the need for lubrication and are resistant to UV, ozone, and corrosion, making them an ideal choice for long-span, high-load applications.
Poly Fluoro has the capability to mould slide plates up to diameters of 350mm with a variety of fillers including glass, carbon, bronze, and graphite. Customised fillers and concentrations can also be provided.
Our state-of-the-art machine shop has turning, turn-milling, and milling capabilities of up to 5-axes allowing us to achieve a high level of complexity and close tolerances.
Further, our testing labs allow us to check key properties and dimensions specific to the polymer. Our extensive Quality Management Systems ensure that our customers are guaranteed a world-class end-product every single time.
